12. Women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have not attained a position of full equality with men and may never get the chance. Although the Mobutu regime  paid lip service to the  important role of women in society, and although women enjoy some legal  lights, custom , and legal constraints  still limit their opportunities.

The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against women in 2006 expressed concern that in the post -war transition period, the promotion of women's  human right  and gender  equality is not seen as a priority.

11. Charities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

During studying Africa, I felt that Africa is very poor country. If I have a time, I want to go there and I want to involve volunteer programs and want to share something such as foods.

Below are a list of charities who work in Congo and deal with survivals sexual violence. Any contributions to these charities would be greatly  appreciated.

There are many traditional wildlife in the  Democratic Republic of the Congo, but I introduced Bonobo  and peafowl.

Bonobo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the only country in the world in which  Bonobos (Pygmy Chimpanzees)  are found in the world. The Bonobos  previously called the Pgymy Chimpanzee and less often, the dwarf of gracile chimpanzee, is a great ape and one of the two species making up the genus pan.

Peafowl
The Congo peafowl is a species of peafowl.  The male is a large bird of up the 70 cm (28 in) in  length. Its features are deep blue with metallic green  and violate tinge. It has bare red neck  skin, grey feet, and a black tail with fourteen features. The female is generally a chestnut  brown bird with a black abdomen, metallic green back ,and a short chestnut bro chest.

9. Environmental problems

At the heart of central Africa's great rainforests lies Kisangani, a small city in the Democratic Republic of Congo( D R C) some 1,300  miles from the mouth of the Congo River. The town began as a Belgian trading post, Stanleyville, and was Conrad's model for Kurtz's  inner station in Heart of Darkness. No roads connect Kisangani to the rest  of the world; over the past two decades they have all collapsed and been retaken by the jungle. Even river navigation is blocked beyond here, as a massive  course of falls stretches for sixty miles  years. upstream.

At the global level, Congo's forests act as the plant's  second lung, counterpart to the rapping carbon that could  otherwise become carbon dioxide, the main cause of global warming .

If these woodlands are deforested, the carbon they trap will  be released in the atmosphere. Environmentalists say that if deforestation continues unabated, by 2050 the D R C  could  release as much carbon  dioxide as Britain has in the past sixty. On the ground, this would likely mean desertification, mass migration, hunger, banditry and war.

For example, this company came here just to cut trees,  and from the beginning  it has been nothing  but lies, lies, lies, say the chief, Frederic  Makofi, as several men gathered around nod their approval, Chief  Makofi wants clinics and schools  and buildings  materials  and transportation.

So the D R C needs sustainable forest industries, scientific management of the resource and subsidies from industrialized  economies to preserve the forest for the sake of climate stability.
